ร้านขนมไทยบนถนนสกล ในตัวเมืองเลย เราทำขนมหวานน้ำกะทิ ขนมถาด และขนมต้มสูตรเก่าขายทุกวัน หน้ามะม่วงก็มีข้าวเหนียวมะม่วงให้ด้วย
ร้านขวัญใจขายขนมไทยอยู่บนถนนสกล ในตัวเมืองเลยมานานกว่า 40 ปี ตามที่หนังสือพิมพ์แนวหน้าเล่าไว้เมื่อปี 2564 วันนี้คนรุ่นลูกเป็นผู้ดูแลร้านต่อ และบนโลโก้ร้านที่ติดผนังเขียนว่า ขนมอร่อยเมืองเลย
ขนมของเราเน้นทำสดใหม่ทุกวัน ไม่ใส่สารกันบูด มีทั้งวุ้นมะพร้าวน้ำหอม วุ้นกะทิ วุ้นสังขยา หม้อแกง และขนมชั้น ส่วนขนมชูโรงคือขนมต้มสูตรโบราณ ที่คุณป้าเจ้าของร้านเริ่มทำมาตั้งแต่ยังสาว
ฝั่งขนมหวานน้ำกะทิมีบัวลอยไข่หวาน ข้าวเหนียวดำเปียก รวมมิตรกะทิสด ถั่วเขียวต้มขิง เต้าส่วน กล้วยบวชชี และสาคูเปียกข้าวโพด จะกินแบบร้อน ใส่น้ำแข็ง หรือโปะไอศกรีมกะทิก็ได้ หน้ามะม่วงเรามีข้าวเหนียวมูนกินกับมะม่วงหรือทุเรียน
อีกเรื่องที่เราตั้งใจทำมาหลายปี คือให้ผู้สูงอายุที่ไม่มีเงิน คนท้อง และผู้พิการ มานั่งกินขนมที่ร้านได้ฟรี และนำขนมไปร่วมงานบุญที่วัดเป็นประจำ
A Thai dessert shop on Sakon Road in Loei town: coconut-milk sweets, tray sweets and our old-recipe khanom tom every day, and mango sticky rice in season.
Khwan Jai has sold Thai sweets on Sakon Road in Loei town for more than 40 years, as the Naewna newspaper reported in 2021; the next generation now runs the shop.
Everything is made fresh each day without preservatives: coconut jelly, layered khanom chan, custard mor kaeng and our old-recipe khanom tom, plus warm or iced coconut-milk sweets such as bua loi, black sticky rice and ruam mit.
For years we have also let elderly people with no money, pregnant women and people with disabilities eat here for free, and we bring sweets to temple merit-making events.
